The abandoned train yard in Istvántelek, just a short 8km from the center of Budapest, was easy to access. The regional S70 train stops directly in Istvántelek, so a short walk to the end of the platform and jumping a low concrete fence was the only entrance effort needed.

Also known as the Red Star Train Graveyard, this collection of museum-owned former rolling stock has been changing recently. Previously it was home to around 100 locomotives and carriages, but the lack of small plant growth on specific rail storage lines and the fresh marks in the dirt-covered concrete were proof that this number was lower now. Probably 70 remain by my best guess.

Unfortunately, the titular Red Star steam locomotive has been taken away, leaving only more recent Soviet and Hungarian models. Some decaying, some graffitied, some burnt. Time and vandals have taken their toll on this site.
